Bad Wolf Bay

Doctor Who is the best Sci-Fi series I’ve ever seen (Not that I’ve watched many Sci-Fi series... well X-Files, which is also awesome.) I just LOVE it! It’s brilliant :D But there’s something I want to make clear of, and that is the second series the ‘Doomsday’ episode.

Because I am from Norway, and they mention Norway in that episode. Well more than mention it, they where there I guess. Bad Wolf Bay is a beach outside Bergen (Where I live :D) in a parallel world. And Rose Tyler says the name in Norwegian, ‘Dårlig ulv stranden’.

When I watched the episode, I only understood the two last words. I had to watch it again and again to realize what she was saying :P The way she says it sounds like old Norweigan ‘dar ligg’, which would mean ‘there lies’. And then I understood that it was ‘dårlig’ which means bad, but here lays the mistake, the error. Because it doesn’t mean bad as in the way they wanted, as a bad wolf.

‘Dårlig’ means if you’re bad at something like… painting or… football, and not that you’re a bad person, or in this case…a wolf :D So the correct line would be: Slemme ulv stranden. Because when you’re a bad person you’re ‘slem’. But then again, if they had used the correct word, then the Doctor wouldn’t be able to respond with a ‘ Dalek?!’ when Rose says the name :)

Well anyway, just needed to get it off my chest :P
I loved this episode! First of all because they used Norway instead of Sweden, and Bergen instead of Oslo which is the capitol city in Norway… Good Times :D

Nina.
